Zeus was a German Shepherd and a patrol dog took down many suspects of crimes over the years. But this dog has done a lot of amazing work in his life. This is a brave dog, Zeus worked in the Search and Recovery efforts after the trade center bombing in 1993. Zeus was also the first canine unit on the scene after the bombing of the Twin Towers. It was the first dog to be ceritfied in New York City to be a Search and Rescue Dog. Zeus has also assisted at a number of disaster sites including, 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, the 1996 Olympics bombing in Atlanta, and several hurricanes. Zeus's great work and efforts to save people have inspired people to think anyone or anything can be a hero. But sadly, the NYPD's most decorated police dog died of cancer June 25, 2002.
