Easter Chicken

One day a chicken laid an egg.  After a few minutes sitting on the egg the chicken said “I will make a nest in the field, I will put my egg in it, and cover it with warm leaves, so the farmer won’t eat my baby.”

After she made a nest in the field and covered it with leaves, she walked back to the barn.

A few days later, a rabbit was in the field and found the egg, he said, “This egg will hatch Easter day, a very special day.  I will make this egg special.”  Then the rabbit smashed some strawberries and painted a red Zigzag line on the egg.  The rabbit let the egg dry, and sat it back in the nest.

The next day a hedgehog was in the field.  When the hedgehog found the egg she said “This egg is special.”  Then she mashed some Blueberries up and painted a Blue dotted line.  The hedgehog let the egg dry, and put it in the nest.

A few days later a beaver was in the field and had found the egg.  The beaver said “This egg is very different.”  Then the beaver mashed up some raspberries and painted a thick purple line.  The beaver let the egg dry, and sat it back in the nest.

A couple days later a groundhog was in the field and found the egg.  The groundhog said “This is a magnificent egg.”  Then the groundhog mashed up some grapes and painted a green dashed line.  The groundhog let the egg dry and sat it back in the nest.

A couple hours later there was a terrible storm and the nest broke, fortunately the egg rolled over, and under a leaf.

The next morning was Easter, when the farmer’s daughter went out in the field to find Easter-eggs; she picked up the special egg, because it was so colorful.

She went inside to open all the Easter Eggs she had gather in the field.  She picked up the special egg, but she couldn’t open the egg, so she brought it to her dad, so he could open it.  But he couldn’t open the egg either.

They realized it was a real egg because there was a tapping noise and the egg was starting to crack.  She took the egg and put it in a box with her favorite warm baby blanket.

Shortly after the egg cracked opened, and a little baby chick came out.  The little girl was excited about the baby chick.  The girl took the baby chick to the chicken in the barn, the baby chick’s very own mom.

The chick grow up happily and was known as the Easter Chicken.
