Emerald ( Prologue and Chapter 1)

Prologue
I dream, a woman is running with a bundle in her arm. In the bundle there is a small baby girl. From the look of the woman’s face she is frightened. I see a shadow running with the woman but I can’t tell who or what it is. Then a hand hits the ground and the woman turns and looks and screams for she sees a dead body. The woman runs over to a man by a carriage. They exchange a few words. She hands him a piece of paper. Then she climbs in the carriage, the man jumps into the driver’s seat and starts the carriage as fast as the horses can go. Then I see the woman’s face and she unwraps the bundle so that she could see the babies face and said “Victoria it will be ok.”
Chapter 1
Victoria Silvernight
That dream freaked me out. But there was no time to waste, it was moving day. I have 2 weeks before my 16th birthday and I have to move. My mom said this is the house she grew up in when she was a child. She wanted to move back to her home town so bad that when she told me the house was up for sale. She went on the internet and bought it. Lucky us,” it was still owned by my Grandmother’s assistant that passed away so her heirs sold it to us for a cheap price” my mom said. I have to leave Miami, Florida for some town in Oregon called Rivers End. I move a lot so I am used to packing up and moving. But I was about to throw my sweet sixteen and I had to cancel it because I have to move to a town I never even heard. My friends wished me good bye and I knew they felt bad for me. I just broke up with my boyfriend Jacob and after that I have had bad luck. I failed all my tests and then I learn I have to move. My mom starts going on about this place. She said there is some sort of charm or magic in this town that she loves. I just guess it is that this is the place were my mom and dad meet. I never really new my dad, my mom said he died before I was born. I really don’t know anyone in my family besides my Mom. Some times she will talk of my grandmother or aunt but that is very rarely.
My mom’s name is Katherine Silvernight. My mom is very graceful as compared to some of my friend’s moms. I remember my mom always telling stories of mythological creatures when I was younger. My favorites were those of princess of the mythological world. They would rule the kingdom of creatures and at the age of 16 all creatures of the kingdom would fight for her heart. The ones who battled to most were the shape shifters and the vampires. I always wished the shape shifters would win because I hated vampires because they sucked blood. Sometimes they would win sometimes not. It was like a dream.
My name is Victoria Silvernight. Even though those stories fascinate me I knew they couldn’t be real. But my mother always said “Victoria, they are real why don’t your believe me” I can’t take me mom seriously. There is no possible way these creatures could be real. Well I finished packing and brought my things down and put them in the back of our van. We had enough space because my mom sold our furniture. She said when she bought the house we also got the house fully furnished. Once my mom finished filling the van with our belongings, we got into the front of the van and were off. I bought my laptop, my notebook, a good book, and a chocolate bar so I had something to do on the trip. But as soon as my mom started driving I fell fast asleep…
Now here is were my story begins
Five long days and we finally reached Oregon. We drove from Miami to Oregon. We drove for maybe another hour and then we reached a forest. “We are getting close. It might be another hour or two but we are close.” my mom said cheerfully. “Great then I can stretch my legs.” About 10 minutes we turn off on to a dirt path. Trees are all around us like the walls of a cave. “Mom, are you sure you are going the right way?” I ask as the road gets bumpy. “Yes Victoria, I know were we are going”
Then we arrived at this gate. Waiting for us was a father and his daughter. My mom got out of the car and went and greeted this family. The man unlocks the gate then the girl climbs in the car with me.” Hello, my name is Elizabeth Hampton. So you are Victoria Silvernight” the girl said all cheerfully. “Yeah, what is this place like, uh Elizabeth?” I said reaching for my laptop. “Oh wonderful did your mom tell you about the magicin this town?” Elizabeth exclaimed as my mother and her father, George, got into the car. They turned and looked at her like she said too much. My mother was in the passenger seat and her father was in the driver. My mom never let anyone sit in the driver seat. This was strange but I found out way a moment later. As we past the gate everything changed. There can a flash of light and then I closed my eyes.
I wake up with my mother shaking me” Victoria, are you there. Sweetie, are you ok.” I respond "Yes mom I am fine…” I look up and I see my mom in a Blue silk dress with ribbon around her like you would see in most renaissance dress. I turn and see Elizabeth in a white blouse and a skirt with a vest at the top like you would see servants in. I am lost of words. I turned to my mom and said” Where are we?” “Victoria we are in Malmerald.” my mom said with a quick glance out the window. Our car was no longer a Honda But a royal carriage like in fairy tales and George was driving. I look down and see that I am wearing a blue dress similar to my mothers but looking more like a young girls outfit. “What happened to my clothes?” I yell.
“Victoria, I could explain this to you but you may not understand. So pick up that book on the floor it will explain everything.” my mother points to the book. I pick it up and it starts to talk to me…

Welcome to Malmerald, The land of the myths. You have come from Earth the world of the humans through a vortex we created. Only creatures of Malmerald can find the vortex so don’t worry we wont find humans coming in to Malmerald by accident. We have been ruled by the Silvernight Family for over 1 million years. The queen is very special in Malmerald. All the queens are Wizards. A long time ago on Queen Helen’s 16 birthdays, she put a spell were all the creatures in Malmerald fell in love with her. From that day forth every queen on her 16 birthday had an aroma that attracted all the male creatures from all over our country. Always the queen choose who she wants to marry. Most of the time she will choose the one that loves her because of personality and love who she is as a person. And now you are the princess in waiting. On your 16 birthday this will also happen. But once you get married the aroma will end. Who ever you marry will become your King.)

The Steps to become Queen.
Right now you are the princess in waiting. You will need to know a few things before becoming queen. You will need to know all the ceremonies, economics, People of Malmerald, Resources, treaties and all magical elements. Once you master this entire task and find a husband you will become queen. The first step is to begin your training and have the Princess Ball. The princess ball is on the night of your 16 birthday to announce that you are of courting age. Also on the night of your 16 birthday you will get your magical powers. You are only half wizard the other half is what ever your father was…)
I stopped there because my mom pointed to out the window I look and see a great wall in the distance. I ask my mom” what is that?” “Oh, that is Romet, our capital and the castle is there. Your Aunt, Queen Gabriella, lives there. Her husband died 3 years ago after a terrible sickness went around, killed many elves that year. Your aunt does not have any children. You will meet your aunt shortly” My mother said will a sorrow look on here face. “Mom how will I address her and i will be staying in the castle?” I questioned, Elizabeth answered this time “you can address her Aunt Gabriella and No you will be staying in Moonstone, the princess cottage to begin your training. Once you speak to your aunt I will take you to live in the princess cottage and your mother has to stay at the castle. I am sorry but it is our custom.” I look at her,” oh ok.”
I turned and stared out the window we were so much close to the castle now. “Wow!” I exclaimed. “Sweet heart carriages in the kingdom move fast then they do on Earth. “My mother said laughing. We were approaching Romet fats I hope I make a good impression.
